Marian L. Flock, 89, Burlington, died peacefully at Geneva Lake Manor on Dec. 22, 2013.

She was born on April 25, 1924, to the late Arthur and Johanna (Redjewski) Johnson, in the house that was to be her lifelong home in Burlington. She spent her early life in Burlington working as a telephone operator for AT&T.

On April 28, 1956 she married Richard Peter Flock at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Burlington. Together they made their home in Racine, before moving back to her childhood home in Burlington, where they raised their family. He preceded her in death July 7, 2005.

She enjoyed socializing (especially birthday parties) with her sisters, sisters-in-law and of course Grandma Zdanko. She also enjoyed many yearly vacations to their shared Nicolet National Forest hunt cabin, as well as keeping in touch with many close relatives. She reminisced frequently of what a large and loving family she’d been raised in.

Survivors include her five children, Genevieve Lynn (Lee) Boettcher, Joanne Mary (Paul) Talwane, Jean Marie Olsen, Jeffrey Richard Flock and John Richard Flock; grandchildren,  Joseph Lee (Sheila) Boettcher, Heather (Brendan) Saunders, Jessica Flock and Nicholas Flock; great-grandchildren, Eliana and Nathan Boettcher; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Staudinger and Caroline Sydlo; a brother-in-law, Robert Flock; many caring nieces, nephews and friends who shared her many lifetime memories.

She dearly cherished her family and always included them in her daily prayers.

She was further preceded in death by her siblings, Herbert (Irene) Johnson, Helen (Peter) Kurtenbach, Ruth (Elmer) Eppers, Edith (Leroy) Ketterhagen, Ethel (Cliff) Esmond, Lawrence Johnson, Richard (Jeanette) Johnson, Myrtle Christensen and Phyllis (Charles) Robers.

Memorials have been suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association, Geneva Lake Manor, or Gentiva Hospice.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the patient care staff of Geneva Lake Manor for all the care they gave Marion.

Funeral services are Thursday, Dec. 26, at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington, at 7 p.m., with the Rev. Markus Wegenast officiating. Burial is Friday, Dec. 27, at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.  Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday, Dec. 26, from 5-6:45 p.m.
