A bridge to the past

The historic truss bridge at the Roger Bieneman property on Burlington’s northwest side is bathed in the light of the low winter sun on Tuesday. Truss bridges, which rose to prominence in the late 1800s and early 1900s, are increasingly rare in Wisconsin and across the nation. (Photo by Ed Nadolski)

  1. I was told about 30 years ago that this bridge came from downtown Burlington, removed from just below the echo lake dam, the footings are still visable across the river from Charcoal Grill behind the now parking lot where the burlington cleaners was located.
