ral senior earned a spot on the Southern Lakes Newspapers All-Area Boys Basketball second team, Miles added a no-hitter to his Toppers resume.

The 6-foot-4 right-hander struck out five and walked only one in a five-inning, 10-0 domination of the visiting Greendale Martin Luther Spartans.

The Toppers scored four runs in both the first and second innings and two in the fourth to run away with the victory.

Catholic Central is now 4-5 overall and 3-4 in the Metro Classic Conference, good for fifth place out of eight teams. The Toppers are only a half-game behind Shoreland Lutheran.

Catholic Central head coach Jim Friend said Miles was on fire Tuesday night.

“Cal kept them off balance and got them to hit ground balls,” Friend said Tuesday. “They only hit one ball to the outfield off him, a fly ball to right field.”

“He walked one and we had an error behind him. He has pitched well his last three outings.”

Miles also helped his cause at the plate with an RBI double and three runs. He finished 2-for-2.

Max Robson added a two-run double, and Will Leiting, Alex Schwenn and Ty Loughrin each added a hit for the Toppers.

Catholic Central travels to Martin Luther looking for a sweep Thursday.

On Saturday, the tables were turned on the Toppers, who were one-hit on the road at Lake Geneva Badger in a six-inning, 10-0 loss.

Catholic Central couldn’t get anything going as Alex Vogt picked up the only hit.

Leiting took the loss after allowing five earned runs, eight hits and walking five in five innings.
