One night removed from a thrilling seesaw quarterfinal victory, the Burlington High School girls volleyball team looked to upend top-seeded Oconomowoc on Friday, Nov. 4 at the Resch Center in Green Bay.

But the Demons couldn’t quite keep up with the defending champion Raccoons.

Oconomowoc, which dropped the first set to fourth-seeded Burlington, eventually came away with a four set victory, 22-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-22 in the WIAA Division 1 State Semifinal match.

The Demons, who finished the season 38-5 overall, stayed resilient amid the tightly contested battle with the Raccoons.

“Our girls stayed gritty, stayed tough, and just kept battling back,” said Demons’ co-coach Teri Little. “Up until our last point, we were proud of what we did.”
