Led by two top-eight finishes from David Jones, the Burlington/Waterford Co-op boys swimming team finished ninth in the 12-team Rocket Invite held at South Milwaukee High School Saturday.

Overall, the Demon boys tallied 114 points in the event won by Muskego with 488 points.

“I thought they did really well,” head coach Denita Jones said of her team.

David Jones took fifth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.97 seconds. He placed eighth in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:12.17 and was a part of the 200-yard freestyle relay squad that finished sixth in 1:41.66.

“He had a really good meet,” coach Jones said of her son.

Jones also noted that Shaun Weber had an excellent meet. Weber was also a part of the 200-yard freestyle relay (along with Austin Harris and Andrew Brutlag), and was 10th in the 500-yard freestyle and 11th in the 200-yard freestyle.

Jones said that Weber’s 500 freestyle time of 5:53.31 was one of his best times this season.

Andrew Brutlag had an 11th-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke to be the only other individual Demon with a top-12 finish.

The co-op team hosted Elkhorn in Southern Lakes Conference action Tuesday at the Burlington Wellness Center. Elkhorn won the meet 118-52, but individual results were not available before press deadline.

Next week, the Demon boys will take on Badger at Lake Geneva on Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 6 p.m.
