Catholic Central High School sophomore Jeff Stempe had a solid day Tuesday at the WIAA Division 3 sectional at Kohler’s Black Wolf Run golf course, but did not qualify for state.
Stempe finished tied for 11th at the sectional, shooting an 85. That was three shots off the final qualifying score of 82, shot by Patrick Treichel of St. Mary’s Springs and Kaiden Evans of Brookfield Academy.
Evans won the playoff.
The top two teams and top three individuals not on qualifying teams qualify for the WIAA Division 3 state tournament, which begins Monday in Madison.
Stempe’s round was consistent, with a 43 on the front nine and a 42 on the back nine. He had pars on all four of the par-3 holes on the course.
