An unassisted goal by Merin Mundt just four minutes into the game held up as the Burlington High School girls soccer team defeated Lake Geneva Badger 1-0 Monday at home.

“We played well in the first half, and Merin took a good shot to take the lead,” head coach Phil Molitor said. “I was very happy with our forward play.”

In the second half, the play became more physical, with two Demons picking up yellow cards.

“We still have room for improvement, but we were good enough to beat Badger,” Molitor added.

This game had been initially scheduled for April 18, but was changed to Monday due to weather.

Molitor noted this game was especially important to him because he has such respect for the Badger coaches, Ross Fowler and Jim Jacobsen.

Burlington is now 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the Southern Lakes Conference.
