The Burlington co-op girls swim team came up just short Tuesday night in a Southern Lakes Conference dual meet, falling at Elkhorn 89-81.

The squad won seven events at the Elkhorn 25-meter pool, but lost ultimately due to Elkhorn’s superior depth. The Elks won the 200 medley relay and had two relay teams in the top three in all three relays.

The Elks also had 13 individual top-three finishes compared to nine for Burlington.

The Wanasek sisters accounted for most of Burlington’s wins on the night. Olivia Wanasek won the 200-meter freestyle in 2:17.67 (which converts roughly to 2:04.73 in yards), while Serena Wanasek won the 100 free in 1:00.74 (55.03 converted) and 100 breaststroke in 1:20.69 (1:13.91).

Sara Wanasek won the 400 free in 4:49.89, while Kaley Brown the 100 butterfly in 1:16.41 (1:09.99).

Burlington also won the 200 and 400 freestyle relays. The team of the three Wanasek sisters plus Hannah Mayer won the 200 free in 1:57.30 (1:46.27), while the 400 free relay of the three Wanaseks and Ellie Petrie won in 4:14.29 (3:50.39).
