Standouts for the week of May 18, 2012

Male Athlete of the Week
Tony Sustachek, Waterford Union High School track and field: With the help of his brother, Kurt, Tony Sustachek broke a 40-year-old school record May 8 at Richmond/Erickson Invitational held Tuesday at Hart Park in Wauwatosa.
Tony ran a time of 1:56.21 to win the 800-meter run at the invite, breaking the 40-year-old record set by Scott Lewis in 1972.
Waterford head coach Nate Schreiber took note of the work of Tony’s brother, Kurt, who worked together with his brother before Tony kicked at the end for the victory.
Female Athlete of the Week
Alyssa Helwig, Waterford Union High School softball: Helwig had two huge games last week as the Wolverines swept Elkhorn 15-0 and 14-0 in a doubleheader May 10.
Helwig hit four home runs and was 6-for-9 at the plate for the Wolverines in the two wins, and recorded seven RBI.

Team of the Week
Waterford Union High School golf: In spite of losing its best golfer for the season to a wrist injury, the Wolverines didn’t break stride.
The Wolverines won the Browns Lake Ryder Cup Saturday by two strokes, edging out host Burlington. All three pairings finished in the top 10.
Then on Tuesday, the Wolverines won their second straight Southern Lakes Conference title by 12 strokes over Elkhorn.

Trapshooting
As the Southeastern Wisconsin SCTP Youth Trapshooting Conference 2012 season winds down, the twelve area teams are preparing for the tournament season.
Burlington holds a one-point advantage over rival Wilmot with just two weeks left before the conference shootout, set for June 8-9 at the Waukesha Gun Club.
The Demons of Burlington took this week’s top score with a 123 of 125;
Myles Walker and Christian Jenson each posted their third 25s of the
year and Mariah Kerr added her second to pace the undefeated Demons.
This week, Union Grove snuck past a quickly improving Cudahy team 116-113. John Bunner led the Broncos with a 24 while George Ademi and
Logan Balow both posted 24s for the Packers.
In another tight match, Westosha Central squeaked past conference
newcomer Muskego 114-112. Kyle Brewer led the Falcons charge with a perfect round of 25. Ryan Stankevich, Tyler Stankevich and Matt Wachowiak each carded 23s for the Warriors.
Once again Wilmot showed their strength posting a 121 to down the
Cooney of Oconomowoc 121-102. Body Kasten and Steven Heelien went
clean for the Panthers. Dalton Dunham led the Cooney with a 22.
The trio of Nick Kinateder, Brandon Travis and Logan Zortman missed
just one each as Waterford powered past the virtual score of 112 with
a solid 117 of 125 broken targets.
Milwaukee Marquette also won a virtual match, posting a strong 117 led
by John Stinele and Patrick Biever’s 24s.
This weeks winners in ,Junior Varsity were Burlington, Badger,
Waterford, Wilmot, Central, Jefferson and Union Grove. Devin McCardle of Marquette posted the lone perfect round this week for JV.
Many of the SE WI SCTP Conference Teams will participate this weekend
the Wisconsin State High School Shoot in Mayville. Burlington has won
the event four time previously including three in a row.
