PAM HESS

Pam, born Sept. 17, 1948, to the late Earl and Florence (Hardie) Hess in Racine, passed away May 24, 2024, at Arbor View Assisted Living Center. Pam led a life full of passion and service. Graduating from Park High School in 1966 and later attending the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, her journey was marked by her unwavering dedication to her interests and community.

Always an avid horse and dog-lover, Pam began showing horses in 1958. In 1968, she ventured into raising horses independently while also indulging in her passion for restoring antique horse-drawn vehicles. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to establish Pam’s Tack ‘n Togs in Burlington, a venture she dedicated herself to until 1983, after which she semi-retired to her farm.

Pam’s devotion extended beyond her personal pursuits. She actively engaged in the Racine County 4-H Horse Project, serving as an officer, and earning recognition as “Woman of the Year” in 1975. In 2000, she spearheaded Carving Racine County, an innovative project that utilized chain saw artists to transform dead trees at Old Settler’s Park in Union Grove into captivating depictions of Racine County’s history.

An avid supporter of various causes, Pam fundraised for initiatives ranging from 4-H Horses and cancer victims to academic scholarships, the American Cancer Society, and the Humane Society. Her organizational skills and community spirit shone through as she orchestrated festivals, weddings, corporate entertainment, and community events.

A celebration of Pam’s vibrant life will be held at Dover Inn, 1909 N Beaumont Ave, Kansasville, on June 30, 2024, from 1 to 3 p.m. with an open house inviting all to share cherished memories and honor her legacy. Dress comfortably and prepare to enjoy the company of loved ones. Per Pam’s wishes a private burial will take place at a later date, allowing family and close friends to bid a final farewell.
