MARJORIE Y. JAY

    Marjorie Y. Jay, 92, of Wheatland, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024, at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee.

Margie was born in Burlington on Sept. 30, 1931, to R. Glenn and Esther (nee Armstrong) Adams. Her early life was spent in Burlington, where she graduated from Burlington High School. On April 14, 1956 in Burlington, she was united in marriage to Robert Jay. Following marriage, they resided in Wheatland Township. Bob preceded her in death on July 28, 2012.

Margie worked in the clerical department for Wisconsin Electric Power Co. for a short time before becoming a homemaker to care for her family. She was a member of Plymouth Congregational UCC, Wednesday Card Club, and was a 4-H leader for cooking and sewing. She was very proud of being one of the longest-standing members of Plymouth Congregational Church. She was also known as the “neighborhood mom” for the kids. She loved to travel with her husband and loved spending time with her family and friends.

Margie is survived by her children, Nancy Knotwell, and Bill (Kristina Klabunde) Jay; niece, Margie Heil; and cousins, Sharon (John) Sinclair-Kraning and Nancy (Ronald) Raty. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Grace Barr and son-in-law Bill Knotwell.

The family would like to thank Lou and Traci Denko, and Carolyn Schoneck for their care and assistance during this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Plymouth Congregational Church, Wheatland Fire Department or Twin Lakes Rescue.

Services for Margie will be held Friday, Jan. 12, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 9:30 until 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Rochester Cemetery following the service.
