JEFFREY P. FIRKUS

      Jeffrey P. Firkus, 59, of Burlington, passed away unexpectedly, following a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis, on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024 at his home.

Jeff was born in Burlington on Dec. 8, 1964, to Herman and Patsy (nee Gluesing) Firkus. His early life was spent in Burlington, where he graduated from Burlington High School, Class of 1983 and attended Gateway Technical College. On Feb. 2, 2022 in Key West, Florida, he was united in marriage to Wendy Mullikin. They lived happily in Burlington, of which he was a life-long resident.

Jeff worked as a phone technician for AT & T and attended St. Charles Catholic Church. He was a die-hard Packer fan and enjoyed fishing, gambling and playing with his grandchildren. He was a practical joker, had a great sense of humor, and made friends everywhere he went.

Jeff is survived by his wife; step-mom, Jane Firkus; children, Stephanie Firkus and Mathew (Maura Melfi) Henningfield; step-children, Shana (Luke) Hawley, Trisha Klade and Erik Klade; grandchildren, Autumn Firkus, Ben Klade, Lyneah Hawley, Marlee Klade and Bellamy Hawley; and sister, Brenda (Nick) Verhagen. He is further survived by nephews, Kevin and Paul; stepsiblings, Steven (Pat) Hlavacek, Denise (Todd) McMahon and Corey (Cyndi) Hlavacek; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and stepfather, aunts and uncles.

Memorial service for Jeff will be held Friday, Jan. 26, 2024 at 7 p.m. at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 4 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
