Barbara E. Skrundz, 78, of Burlington, passed away Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024 at Aurora Medical Center in Burlington.
Barbara was born in Chicago on Jan. 1, 1946, to Alrik and Harriett (nee Danielson) Johnson. Her early life was spent in Chicago, where she attended Austin High School. In Nov. of 1966, she was united in marriage to Alfred Skrundz. Following marriage, they continued to reside in Chicago. Alfred preceded her in death on Sept. 16, 1981. She had been a Burlington resident since 1984.
Barbara worked for Educators Credit Union in the credit card services division and was a member of the Austin Club, which had a Swedish affiliation. She loved spending time with her family. She was affectionately known as Mor Mor to her grandchildren and those who loved her.
Barbara is survived by her children, Gregory (Debra Jorgenson) Skrundz, Kimberly (Mary Jo McGowan) Skrundz and Vincent (Brigette) Skrundz; grandchildren, Will (Rhea), Sam (Kaitlin), Jake, Austin and Patrick; siblings, Raymond Johnson, Mary Ann “Pat” Monzel and Margaret Gill; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister Estelle Sedlacek; niece Robin Johnson; brother-in-law Robert Monzel; sister-in-law Mary Johnson; brother-in-law David Gill and brother-in-law Frank Sedlacek.
The family would like to thank the nurses at Burlington Hospital for their care during this time.
A funeral service for Barbara will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024 at the Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home. Relatives and friends can visit with the family on Thursday, Feb. 15 from 4 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A private burial for Barbara will be held at St. Lukes Cemetery in Chicago.
