DONALD E. JACOBSON

Donald E. Jacobson, of Waterford, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on November 24, 2023.

Donald was preceded in death by his siblings, Paul, Arla Bakken, David, Howard, and Ruth; his daughter-in-law, Kristine (nee Festge) Jacobson; and grandson, Joshua Banda. He is survived by his wife, Joanne; children, Steve (Debbie) Jacobson, Mary Boehlke, Anne (Andrew) Dressel, Amy Jacobson (James Agpoon), and Andrew Jacobson; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Don was born in 1935 on the family farm in the Town of Norway to Mabel (nee Rossum) and Clarence Jacobson. In 1959, he married Joanne (nee Otto), who was his nurse while he was hospitalized for appendicitis. They moved to the state of Washington, where he served in the U.S. Army. After returning to Wisconsin, he attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Don and Joanne owned and operated Brennan & Otto, Inc., Heating and Cooling until his retirement in 2000.

Don was an active member of Norway Lutheran Church, where he sang in the choir, served on numerous committees, assisted with church maintenance, and invented a large-capacity carrot chopper for the annual Lutefisk dinner. He was a gentle spirit, with a self-deprecating sense of humor. He loved to travel and regularly took his family on cross-country trips in the used bread van that he had converted into a camper that slept seven people. Annual camping trips to Kohler-Andrae State Park were a highlight for the whole family. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Funeral Service will be held 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 8, 2023 at Norway Lutheran Church, 6321 Heg Park Rd.

Memorials may be made to Norway Lutheran Church or Kohler-Andrae State Park.

Mealy-Stencel Funeral Home is serving the family. Well-wishers may visit www.mealyfuneralhome.com.
