ARLENE M. OLSON

      Arlene M. Olson, 91, of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Arlene was born on May 9, 1932, in Burlington, to Howard S. and Helen A. (nee Paulsen) Fleming. She attended and was confirmed at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and School, and graduated from Burlington High School in 1950. On Sept. 15, 1956, Arlene was united in marriage with Roger L. Olson at St. John’s Lutheran Church. After 52 years of marriage, Roger preceded her in death on April 29, 2009.

In 1960, the couple along with their two sons moved to Manitowoc. Arlene worked at several offices in Manitowoc. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and doing woodcrafts with Roger in their retirement. Arlene was a member of Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc Senior Center, and the Manitowoc County Historical Society.

Arlene is survived by son and two daughters-in-law, Gregory M. Olson (Tani Kohlmeier) of Manitowoc and Jeanne Olson of De Pere; step granddaughter, Kysa (Greg) Walter; step great grandchildren, Kaleb, Mackenzie and Maxwell, all of De Pere; brother, Robert (Jane) Fleming of Leon, Iowa; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Pat Olson of Muskego, Dennis and Karen Olson of Colfax and Charles and Julie Olson of Phillips; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Roger; son, James S. Olson; parents, Howard and Helen Fleming; brother, Richard Fleming; sister, Jeanette (Phil) Weiler; nephew, Timothy Weiler; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Oscar M. and Hazel L. Olson; and sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Ellen (Robert) Holler and Richard Olson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3209 Meadow Lane, Manitowoc with Rev. Robert Kujawski and Rev. Stephen Melso officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials in Arlene’s name to Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc Lutheran High School or donor’s choice.

Arlene’s family would like to thank the staffs of Sharon S. Richardson Hospice and Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation for all their care and compassion. Also, special thanks to Mom’s longtime friend, Rogene Behringer, for all of the help and friendship she provided to Arlene.
