ALLAN PATNODE

Allan “Al” Patnode, 74, of Burlington, passed away Thursday, Aug. 31, 2023, at his home unexpectedly.

Al was born in Milwaukee on May 23, 1949, to Darrell (Pappy) and Helen. On Feb. 20, 1971, at St. Mathew’s Church in Milwaukee, he was united in marriage to “his love,” Mary. Following marriage, they resided in Milwaukee before moving to Burlington in 1991.

Al proudly worked as a railroad engineer for the Milwaukee Road and finished his career with Metra. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, taking cruises and traveling anywhere, with the love of his life. They played a game of Gin Rummy and Cribbage every morning. He was a trivia genius, especially with his music knowledge and other useless facts that no one else would know. Al could always be found on the sidelines or in the bleachers, watching his grandkids play whatever sport was in season, and he truly was their biggest fan. He shared secret handshakes and sweet treats with them every single time he saw them.

Al is survived by his wife Mary; children, Michael (Jakki) Patnode, Lisa (Antoine) McIntyre and Lora (Josh) Dow; grandchildren, Mason, Grace, Isaac, Aiden and Ayland; and brother, James. He is further survived by sisters and brothers in-law, nieces, nephews and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life for Al will be held at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home on Friday, Sept. 8, 2023, from 3 until 6 p.m.
