WILLIAM SCHAUER

On June 4th, 2021, William “Bill” Schauer entered his heavenly home into God’s waiting arms, having lived a wonderful 87 years.

Bill was born on July 15, 1933, in the town of Hartford, to Walter and Laura (nee: Keller) Schauer. On May 26, 1956, he was united in marriage to Marlene (nee Schuster) in Woodland. After marriage, they moved to Union Grove, where Bill started Schauer Equipment Company. For 42 years he was known as the Surge Man, selling and servicing Surge milking machines and other dairy equipment supplies. When snowmobiles became popular, he started Schauer Enterprise to sell snowmobiles and lawn and garden equipment. In 1976 he and Marlene opened Schauer Party Shop, a beer and liquor store. Needing to keep busy after retirement, he started Schauer Storage, a RV and boat storage facility.

Bill was an avid community volunteer helping wherever needed. For over 50 years, he was a Union Grove Lions Club member, receiving the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award, the club’s highest honor for community service. For over 40 years he was a Racine County Fair Board member, serving as President for 12 years, as well as the Entertainment Director bringing in some of biggest country artists in the industry. He enjoyed seeing the fair grow and prosper primarily for the benefit of the county’s FFA and 4H Youth groups. As a man of faith, he spent many years volunteering at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. For 20 years he was a DNR Snowmobile Safety School instructor.

Bill loved to have fun and it showed with his quick wit and one-liners. Whether it was snowmobile trips with family, traveling the country in his RV with Marlene and friends, attending Packers, Badgers and Brewer games, he got the most out of life. Bill and Marlene enjoyed retirement at their second home in Ft Myers Beach, Fla. in the winter months. He enjoyed golf, proudly boasting he had two hole in ones. In his younger years he loved playing baseball, sponsoring and playing on championship softball teams.

Bill is survived by his wife Marlene; sons, Jeffery (Tess) Schauer and Daniel (Denise) Schauer; daughter Pamela Fesko; grandsons, Michael (Kristina) Fesko, Jacob (Brooke) Fesko and Joseph Schauer; granddaughter Allison Schauer, and seven great grandsons. He is proceeded in death by his parents; brothers Robert and Russell (Dolores); sister Dorothy (Howard) Werner; brothers-in-law Ronald Schuster and Bill Margelofsky; two nieces and a great nephew.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 12 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1610 S. Main St., Union Grove. Visitation is from 9 until 11 a.m. Funeral service at 11:30 a.m. with burial to follow at Union Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers please offer a donation to either St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or the Union Grove Lions club.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Nancy Daniels-Haase, Karen Allen and Renee Church for their support and guidance during this difficult journey and to everyone who kept Bill in their prayers.
