GERALD J. WEBER

      Gerald “Jerry” J. Weber, 86, died April 30, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 13, 1931, to the late Peter and Elizabeth Weber in Spring Grove, Ill. He graduated from Antioch High School in 1950.

On Sept. 25, 1954, he married the love of his life Virginia Larson and they raised three beautiful children together in Burlington.

He served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954. Following his time in the service, Jerry worked for the City of Burlington; 22 years for the water department and 12 years as the building inspector.

He was active in his community, volunteering for St. Mary’s Athletic Association for over 25 years and serving as an usher for 60 years at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He was also known to many community members as “Mr. Fix-It” and was often called by his neighbors to help with various projects around their homes.

Survivors include his loving wife; children, Scott (Sherrie) Weber, Waukesha, Cindy (Riyad) Weber, Los Angeles, Calif., and Geraldine Weber, Los Angeles; grandchildren, Sally Vanderwyst, Milwaukee, Paul Weber, Columbia, Mo., Lubalah Helwani, Los Angeles, Abdullah Helwani, Los Angeles, Angelica Agahsi, Los Angeles, and Joshua Agahsi, Los Angeles; his sister, Pat Grasty, Gurnee, Ill., as well as other family and close friends.

He was further preceded in death by his siblings, Esther Weber, Betty Sheehan, Gladys Birchfield, Arnold Weber, Bob Weber, and Irving Weber; and son-in-law, Sam Agahsi.

A celebration of Jerry’s life is Wednesday, May 17, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 108 McHenry St., Burlington. Visitation will be in the Chapel from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., followed by a Catholic memorial Mass. Immediately following the Mass, the family invites you to join them for a time of fellowship in Heim Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate if memorials were given to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Athletic Association, or Burlington Rescue Squad. Integrity Funeral Services, Waterford, is serving the family.
