DUANE C. OLSON

      Duane C. Olson, 75, of Burlington, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, June 4, 2017.

Born in Phelps, on Oct. 25, 1941, he was the son of Elmer and Josephine (nee Peterson) Olson. He spent his early life in Phelps where he graduated from high school. He served in the Navy from 1959 to 1963 where he served on the USS Ticonderoga. During his time of service he witnessed a plane crash on the deck and without regard for his own safety he assisted in the rescue of the pilot.

On July 27, 2002 he was united in marriage to Julie Anna Potter. Following marriage they lived in Burlington.

Duane enjoyed hunting and bird watching. He was a gifted musician and in 2005 recorded his own CD “Welcome to My World”. He was a member of the AMVETS and took great joy in making people laugh.

Duane is survived by his wife, Julie; brother, Donald (Judy) Olson; nephews, Geno (Sandy) Olson, Cory (Trish) Olson; brothers and sisters in-law, John (Linda) Potter, Patty (Mick) Fowler, Sue Sheppard, Phil (Mar) Potter, Gordon Potter, Bonnie (Duaine) Schmidt, Howard (Charlotte) Potter, Larry Potter, Mark (Jill) Potter, Ken Potter, and Sonny Fowler along with many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Gaylord, Norman, Darlene and Janet; sister-in-law, Lois and brother-in-law, August.

The family would like to thank Seasons Hospice for their wonderful care during this time, and their many close neighbors who were always there for them.

Services for Duane will be held on Thursday, June 8, at 3 p.m. at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, Burlington. Visitation for family and friends will be at the funeral home on Thursday, June 8th from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
