VIRGINIA C. MINOR

Easter Lily      Virginia C. Minor, 89, Kansasville, died Sept. 1, 2016, at Wisconsin Veterans Home in Union Grove. She was born April 1, 1927, in Barron County, to the late Norman and Amy (Andrus) Reed. She graduated high school from Rochester Agriculture School.

On Dec. 8, 1944, she married Thomas J. Minor in St. Lucie, Fla., and together they raised 12 children. She created a wonderful, loving home and nourished her children with her delicious cooking and devotion to them. Despite all her hard work at home, she found time to work outside the home. For a number of years, she was a cook at the Southern Wisconsin Center, then she worked on the line at Nestle, and later she was a caregiver at a group home in Racine.

She was an avid reader and Packer fan and loved gardening. She is well known for her quilting and for the past 15 years she and her daughter, Donna, had been making quilts for the residents at the Wisconsin Veterans Home.

Survivors include her daughters, Mary (Geoff) Downey, Lowell, Dyanne (Karl) Rogall, Kansasville, Donna (Jim) Stigler, Union Grove, Maggie ‘Darlene’ Goodman, Jacksonville, Fla.; sons, Thomas (Fran), Preston, Conn., Richard (Joy), Fruitland, Fla., William, Antioch, Ill., Douglas (Cindy), Salem, Donald (Angela), McIntosh, N.M., and John (Carol), Chardon, Ohio; daughters-in-law, Linda Minor, Rockford, Ill., and Marilyn Minor, Jacksonville; 26 grandkids; 11 step-grandkids; 28 great-grandkids (and one on the way); and 25 step-great-grandkids; and her sisters, Sue (David), Stanton, Mich., June Gullbrand, Random Lake, Arlene ‘Tooty’ (Joe) Hill, Tullahoma, Tenn., Janet (Jack) Lauterbach, Shelbyville, Tenn.

She was further preceded in death by her beloved husband in 1996; sons, Michael and Gerald; grandson, Gregory Rogall; great-granddaughter, Delaney Moran; her brother, Morris ‘Sonny’; and her sisters, Patricia and Marilyn.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at Miller-Reesman Funeral Home, 620 15th Ave., Union Grove, on Saturday, Sept. 10, from 9-11 a.m. Memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Virginia’s ashes will be scattered at sea off the coast of Florida at a future date.
