RONALD J. BRETL

Easter Lily      Ronald James Bretl, 73, Franksville, died May 31, 2016, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Jan. 3, 1943, to the late Louis and Helen (Schoenleben) Bretl in Racine. He graduated from Union Grove High School.

On March 2, 1963, he married Bonnie Lee Alby at St. Mary’s Church in Kansasville. Following their marriage they resided, at their home, on 2 Mile Road in the Town of Yorkville. He was previously employed at Twin-Disc, first as a machinist then as a supervisor retiring in 2001. Following his retirement, he enjoyed working with Al Wilks and his family on their farm.

He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping, snowmobiling and farming. He was also very handy and enjoyed woodworking and working on engines. He was involved in the Big Sister-Big Brother Program and made a difference in his little brother Joe “JJ” Filtz’s life. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family who meant the world to him.

Survivors include his wife; children, Kenneth (Diane), Kristine (Gary); grandchildren, Sarah Bretl, Haley Bretl, Thomas Bretl, Ryan Goessl and Megan Goessl; siblings, Jean (Alvin) Wilks, Lois (Jim) Fischer, Carol Mills and Richard (Lois) Bretl; brothers and sisters-in-law, Evelyn (Mike) Dickman, Ruth (Tim) Alby-Smith, and Joe (Pam) Alby; other relatives and friends.

He was further preceded in death by his son, Keith Bretl; brother-in-law, Bruce Mills; parents-in-law, Rosalie and Menzo Alby.

The family has suggested memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or Big Brothers-Big Sisters.

Ron’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the family and friends who offered support, it has been truly appreciated.

Funeral services are Saturday, June 4, at 6:30 p.m., at Polnasek-Daniels Funeral Home, 908 11th Ave., Union Grove. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on June 4, from 4-6:30 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial is Monday, June 6, at 11 a.m., at Westlawn Cemetery.
