ROBERT H. VOS

Easter Lily      Robert H. Vos, 90, of Burlington, died peacefully Feb. 27, surrounded by family, at Burlington Health & Rehab.

He was born Oct. 17, 1925, in Burlington, to the late Hugo and Grace (Kerkman) Vos. He spent his early life in New Munster where he attended St. Alphonsus Grade School and graduated from Burlington High School before attending business school.

On Aug. 7, 1948, at St. Charles Catholic Church, he married Evelyn ‘Sue’ Martin. Following marriage they made their home in Brighton and Kenosha where they started raising their family before moving to Burlington in 1960. She preceded him in death on Nov. 16, 2002.

He was the owner of Vos Insurance Agency and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where he ushered and sang in the choir. He was active with Kiwanis, the Sierra Club and the Knights of Columbus and had also been a sponsor for a youth softball league. He volunteered many hours for various causes and spearheaded many fundraisers. His greatest passion in life was gardening and he often shared his talents by helping his neighbors with their yards. His beautiful backyard was the setting for many family celebrations.

Survivors include his children, Kenneth (Diane) Vos, Mishicot, Patricia (Bob) Reese, Walworth, Rosanne (Rick) Coffey, Lebanon, Conn., David (Marge) Vos, Lake Geneva, Mary (Mark) Pieters, Burlington, William (Denise) Vos, Dale, Gerald (Cheryl) Vos, Minocqua, Jack (LouAnn) Vos, Lyons, Thomas (Carie) Vos, Burlington, Barbara (Mark Heidenreich) Buchholz, Cape Coral, Fla.; 24 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; siblings, Don (Rose Agnes) Vos, Doris (Rich) Daniels, Germaine Eisenbart, Carl (Mary) Vos; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Rita Vos and Norm Schultz.

He was further preceded in death by his siblings, Art Vos, Leon Vos, and Rosemary Schultz.

Should family or friends desire, contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Catholic Central High School, or Aurora At Home Hospice.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, March 4, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Yamid Blanco presiding. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, March 3, at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is serving the family.
