RICHARD J. STROHM

Easter Lily      Richard J. Strohm, 84, Burlington, died Sept. 27, 2016, at Holton Manor, Elkhorn. He was born Feb. 7, 1932, in Burlington, to the late Floyd and Josephine (Fox) Strohm. He was a lifetime resident of Burlington, graduating from St. Mary’s Grade and High schools. He further attended Marquette University.

On Oct. 10, 1953, he married Joan Scherrer. They made their home in Burlington where they raised their family.

Richard worked as a construction superintendent with Scherrer Construction until he started his own construction business, Scherrer-Strohm Inc. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church for 63 years.

He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and he had a passion for ice fishing. He was an avid Packers, Brewers, Bucks and Badgers fan. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years; children, Karen (Gregory) Peterson, Suamico, Michael (Erica) Strohm, Burlington, Gary (Mary) Strohm, Madison, Kathleen (Larry) Vos, Burlington, Richard (Nadeen) Strohm, Burlington, Diane (Brian) Biedrzycki, Burlington; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Don (Marge) Strohm, Florida; sisters-in-law, Barbara E. Scherrer, Marlene Scherrer, Carolyn (Jim) Bauman, Kathy Bryant and Joy Scherrer; brothers-in-law, Ed Scherrer and Patrick (Elena) Scherrer; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was further preceded in death by his brother, James Strohm; mother- and father-in-law, Elmer J. (Agnes) Scherrer; brothers-in-law, Thomas Scherrer, Elmer (Barbara) Scherrer, Norman Scherrer and Joe Scherrer; sisters-in-law, Joan (Don) Barnes, Peggy Scherrer and Anna Strohm.

Memorials may go to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Burlington.

The family would like to thank the staff at Holton Manor and Vitas Hospice for their care and compassion.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m., at St. Charles Catholic Church with the Rev. James Volkert presiding. Visitation for family and friends is Oct. 7, from 4:30-6:30 p.m., at the church. Burial will be private. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is serving the family.
