RICHARD D. BOLLWAHN

Easter Lily      Richard D. ‘Squeak’ Bollwahn, 67, Huntsville, Ala., formerly Burlington, died peacefully on Aug. 23, 2016, at Crestwood Medical Center in Huntsville.

He was born in Burlington on July 9, 1949, to the late Carl ‘Bud’ and Dorothy (Travis) Bollwahn. He was an avid pool player and a stock car racing enthusiast. He began his love of racing at the age of 23 at Lake Geneva Raceway. This was his passion until his move to San Diego in 1985, where he accepted a position as a manufacturing engineer. During this time he met his current wife and love of his life, Kathy Christian, and they were married April 8, 2000, in Las Vegas.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Wendy (Bill) Kowalski, Kelly Heilert; stepchildren, Harvey (Cari) Hogan and Kristin Roe; sisters, JoAnn Fell, Candy (Bruce) Arnold and BillieJo (Lloyd) Kaczmarek; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; an uncle, Ron (Beth) Travis; an aunt, Grace Lust; sister-in-law, Kaye Bittermann; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends who he considered family.

A Celebration of Life will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 24, at Gabby’s Palace, Burlington, from 2-5 p.m.
