RAYMOND F. LUDWIG

Easter Lily      Raymond F. Ludwig, 89, died Jan. 16, 2016, at Wisconsin Veterans Home – Boland Hall, while getting ready to have breakfast with his sons at Local Folks.

He was born Dec. 28, 1926, on a farm in Honey Lake, to the late James E. and Mayme J. (Knull) Ludwig. He was a lifetime resident of the Burlington area and graduated from Burlington High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II where he spent time in Germany.

He was employed with Burlington Brass Works for 34 years and then worked for Burlington Farm Implement for 17 years. He was a member of St. Charles Church, and the VFW Burlington Post. He enjoyed playing cribbage and euchre. He especially loved spending time with his family, one of his favorite times being with his family on their bowling team.

Survivors include his sons, Edward (Marcia) Ludwig, Michael (Jill) Ludwig, Dennis (Carrie) Ludwig, Richard Ludwig, all Burlington; stepchildren, Lisbeth (Bill) Breuer, Denver, Colo., Michael Malone, McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Marcus (Renee) Ludwig, Trevor (Cherish) Ludwig, Joshua Ludwig, Jason (Amber) Ludwig; stepgrandchildren, Justin Breuer, Tyler Breuer, Rebecca (Brandon Stoen) Schmidt, Benjamin Schmidt, Mary (Matthew Zimmerman) Schmidt; siblings, Alvin (Edie) Ludwig, Marge Busch, Dave (Alice) Ludwig, Ellen (Eric) Larson; sisters-in-law, Mary Ludwig, Donna Ludwig and Sofie Ludwig; brother-in-law, Pat David; great-grandchildren, Brianna, Camden, Tegan, and Tristan Ludwig; stepgreatgrandchildren, Lexie, Nevaeh and Kane Schmidt; nieces; nephews; other relatives and special friends, Dessa Rohleder and Wayne and Kathy Madro.

He was further preceded in death by his wife, Mary; ex-wife and mother of his children, Evelyn Best; stepdaughter, Mary Noel Malone; siblings, Kenneth, James and Otto Ludwig, Judy David, and brother-in-law, Bob Busch.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).

The family would like to thank the staff at Fairchild and Boland Hall for their wonderful care.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Jan. 22, at noon at St. Charles Catholic Church with the Rev. James Volkert presiding. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends is Thursday, Jan. 21, from 4-7 p.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington.
