NANCY T. MAIER

Easter Lily      Nancy T. (Arts) Maier, 85, Burlington, died on her birthday, July 27, 2016, at Aurora Memorial Hospital. She was the eldest daughter of the late Fred and Leona (LeDuc) Arts. She was born July 27, 1931, in Gladstone, Mich., where she spent her early life.

On June 23, 1951, she married the late Roy Christopher Maier in Racine. Following marriage, they resided in Racine, Cudahy, and Oak Creek before moving to Burlington in 1971.

She worked as a nutrition specialist in a nursing home in Oak Creek and also for a catering company. After moving to Burlington she was employed at NEL Frequency Controls up to her retirement in 1992.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Church and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion 434 in Oak Creek. She enjoyed reading and visiting with the residents of Springbrook. More than anything, she loved caring for her grandchildren who meant the world to her.

Survivors include her children, Roy C. Maier Jr., Dennis W. (Betty) Maier, Leann T. Hawley, Richard D. (Beth) Maier; grandchildren, Kimberly K. (Adam) James, Lori Beth Maier, Christopher A. (Shala-na) Maier, Michael Hawley, Nicole Maier and Matthew Hawley; great-grandchildren, Kaleb James, Memphis Maier, Hendrix Maier and Jaxon James; her brother, Daniel (Marlis) Arts; sister, Charlene Tenhagen; sister-in-law, Shirley Arts; brother-in-law, Rudy Maier; nieces; nephews; relatives and friends.

She was further preceded in death by her husband of 57 years; brothers, Dennis, Wayne and Eddie Arts; sisters, Rita Nelson and Darlene LaChapelle.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, Aug. 4, at 1 p.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Fr. Yamid Blanco officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Aug. 4 from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., at church. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is serving the family.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the VNA nurses, especially the physical therapist Theresa and also the nurses in ICU at Aurora Burlington Hospital for their care and compassion.
