MILDRED K. MAKI

Easter Lily      Mildred K. Maki, 94, formerly Union Grove, died Sept. 6, 2016, at Harbour Village Senior Living Center, Greendale. She was born Aug. 22, 1922, to the late George and Clara (Brissou) Garreau in Bessemer, Mich. Her early life was spent in Northern Wisconsin.

On Jan. 31, 1942, she married the late Tauno Maki in Montreal, Wis. He passed away July 3, 2012. Following their marriage they resided in Ironwood Mich. In 1963 they relocated to Union Grove. She worked as a caregiver at Southern Colony. Mildred was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dover and a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary. She loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children, Ted (Patty) Maki, New Berlin, and Leonard Maki, Greendale; nine grandchildren; many great and great-great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was further preceded in death by her sons, Donny and Ken Maki, and 12 siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Sept. 12 at 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Dover, with the Rev. Yvon Sheehy officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Sept. 12 from 9-10:15 a.m., at the church. Burial will follow service in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Polnasek-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Union Grove, is serving the family.

The family has suggested memorials be made to the Salvation Army.

Mildred’s family would like to extend a special heartfelt thank you to her niece, Florence Busch, for the unconditional love and compassion she showed her Aunt Millie and to the caring and compassionate companions that spent many hours with her.
