Mary Lou Christensen, 89, Burlington, died peacefully on July 31, 2016. She was born Jan. 25, 1927, in Detroit, Mich., to the late David and Gertrude (Kurzhals) Zerbach. She spent her early life in Chippewa Falls.
On June 29, 1978, in Las Vegas, she married William G. Christensen. Following marriage they made their home in Bohners Lake. Bill preceded her in death on Dec. 2, 1981. Mary Lou has been a resident of the Burlington area since 1961. She worked for many years as a waitress at Dunkel’s White Oaks. She had been elected as the Town Clerk for Burlington Township.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary Hawley and Carol Prause; sister, Reggie Jorde: grandchildren, Raymund Hawley, Randi Hawley, Rianne Hawley; other grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
She was further preceded in death by her children, Connie May and Danny Saltz, and siblings David Zerbach and Gertrude Zerbach.
Committal services for Mary Lou will be held on Friday, Aug. 5, at 11 a.m., at Burlington Cemetery. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is serving the family.
