Mary Elizabeth Aspinall, 94, died peacefully at Oak Ridge Care Center in Union Grove on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016.
She was born Sept. 21, 1922; the daughter of the late Glenn and Edith (Hibbard) Aspinall. She was a lifelong resident of Rochester and grew up on her parent’s farm. Mary was a graduate of the Rochester Ag School. She was the owner of The Think Shop and The Alcove Bookstore in Burlington for 23 years. Mary was an animal rights activist and supporter of animal rights. She enjoyed her country garden with its flowers and trees, berry bushes and vegetables.
She is survived by her sister Phyllis Zelenski, Burlington; and brother-in-law Jerome Helding, Elko, Minn. as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; brother Robert; sisters Alice Grosshuesch and Patricia Helding; and brothers-in-law Herbert Grosshuesch and Joseph Zelenski.
Private family services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mary’s name are appreciated to a Humane Society of your choice.
