MARTHA A. BLOCK

Martha Ann ‘Marty’ Block, 54, Lake Geneva, died March 26, 2016, at St. Luke’s Medical in Milwaukee.

She was born in Marinette, on March 16, 1962, to William and Alice (Colburn) Boerner. She graduated from Carmel High School in Mundelein, Ill., in 1980. After high school she worked as a bunny/waitress at the Playboy Club in Lake Geneva where she met her husband-to-be and also worked at The Abby in Fontana. She spent 17 years as manager/supervisor of the Walworth Co. Humane Society in Elkhorn.

On Feb. 14, 1994, in Las Vegas, she married Terry Block, son of John and Nancy Block of Burlington. Together, in the spring of 1999, they opened The Whisker Works Dog Grooming salon on Pine Street in Burlington, where it remains today.

She enjoyed spending time at the family property on the Menominee River in Upper Michigan with her husband, friends and family while camping and fishing. She was well loved by many for her kindness, sense of humor, huge heart and love for animals.

Survivors include her husband; father, William (Carol) Boerner; siblings, Linda Haroldson, Thomas (Marie) Boerner and Michael (Laura) Boerner; brothers-in-law, John Block Jr. and Robert (Carrie) Block; nieces; nephews; cousins and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, and brother-in-law, James Haroldson; sister-in-law, Anna Block.

A memorial celebration for Marty is being planned for sometime in May. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is serving the family.
