Marilyn J. Uhen, 87, New Munster, died Sept. 4, 2016, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born Sept. 12, 1928, in Burlington to the late Egon G. and Evelyn (Schilz) Uhen. She spent her whole life in New Munster graduating from St. Alphonsus Grade School and St. Mary’s High School.
She was an insurance agent and worked for Mangold Insurance before partnering with Jim Steffens Insurance Co. She was a devoted member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and dedicated her life to serving St. Al’s. She was very involved as the choir director and on the liturgy committee. She was a loving daughter, caring sister and fabulous aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Survivors include her brothers, William J. Uhen and James R. (Elizabeth) Uhen; a sister-in-law, Marge Chesher.
She was further preceded in death by her brother, Robert; sister-in-law, Genevieve Uhen; and nephew, Michael E. Uhen.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday Sept. 8, at 7 p.m., at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. The Rev. Joseph Uhen will officiate. Relatives and friends can visit with the family on Thursday at church from 4-6:30 p.m. Private burial will take place in St. Alphonsus Parish Cemetery. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is serving the family.
