MADELYN M. ROME

Easter Lily      Madelyn M. Rome, 96, Burlington, died June 5, 2016, at Geneva Lake Manor while in the loving arms of her children.

She was born Nov. 21, 1919, in Wauwatosa, to the late Albert and Rose (Mayer) Leber. She spent her early life in Wauwatosa before moving to Burlington where she graduated from St. Mary’s High School.

On Nov. 4, 1944, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Burlington, she married Adam ‘Bud’ Rome. Following marriage they made their home in Burlington where they raised their family. Bud preceded her in death on June 12, 1992.

In Madelyn’s early years she had the lead roles with the St. Mary’s High School operettas. She loved to sing and was a member of St. Mary’s choir and funeral choir. She volunteered time to the church and school by being part of the Sacristan group and working in the grade school library. She enjoyed painting and was a very craft minded person. She loved baking and decorating cakes for family and friends.

Survivors include her children, Mary Ellen (Kirk) Lundquist, Thomas (fiancée, Shirley Peterson) Rome, Peter (Joanne) Rome; grandchildren, Kiefer Elliott, Taggart Elliott, Sydney Ellen Elliott along with other grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

She was further preceded in death by her daughter, Rosanne Lara, and son, Edward Rome.

Memorials are suggested to St. Mary’s Church.

Mass of Christian Burial is Saturday, June 11, at 1 p.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. James Volkert officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on June 11, from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., at St. Mary’s Church in the Good Shepherd Chapel. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is serving the family.
