Leon ‘Pete’ M. Koldeway, 86, Burlington, died April 27, 2016, at Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington. He was born Nov. 6, 1929, in Burlington, to the late John and Theresa (Merten) Koldeway.
He married Lou Jane Schatzman at St. Charles Church in Burlington on Sept. 29, 1951. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Church, New Munster.
He farmed all his life and loved gardening, playing games with his family, hunting in his earlier years, mushroom hunting and taking trips up North in fall.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years; children, Linda Ebbers, Edward (Sheila) Koldeway, Deborah (Thomas) Trasser, Steven Koldeway, Fred (Rose) Koldeway, Darlene Koldeway, Susan (Doug) Barton, Ralph Koldeway, Julie (Guy Curly) Koldeway, Tim (Kari) Koldeway, Brian (Mary) Koldeway; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Irene Mangold, Bernice Ketterhagen, and Elaine (Jerry) Zarnstorff; sister-in-law, Virg Koldeway; other relatives and friends.
He was further preceded in death by his son, Michael Koldeway; grandson, Justin J. Koldeway; brothers, Ray, Elmer, Don, Alvin, infant, George; sisters, Celesta, Marie, and Jane; brothers-in-law, James Ketterhagen, William Mangold, Bob Uhlenhake; sisters-in-law, Laura Koldeway, Ramona Koldeway.
The family would like to thank Dr. Paul Webber and his staff, Burlington Hospital doctors and nurses, Dr, Haider, Katrina and staff, Dr. Weiss and staff at St. Luke’s for all their care and compassion.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated May 2, at St. Alphonsus, with Fr. Tom Biersack officiating. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, Burlington, served the family. Burial was in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
