John J. Zwiebel, 94, Waterford, died Dec. 11, 2016, at Waterford Senior Living. He was born in Burlington on Oct. 10, 1922, to the late Leo and Regina (McCormack) Zwiebel. He spent his early life in Burlington where he attended St. Charles Grade School and graduated from Burlington High School.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving for a total of eight years. He then served in the National Guard for an additional 28 years.
In August of 1980, he married Dorothy Patchett. Following marriage they made their home in Burlington. They spent their winters in Florida. She preceded him in death on Dec. 22, 2004.
John worked as a photographer and was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, the National Audubon Society and the Burlington Historical Society.
Survivors include his siblings, Betty Zwiebel, Helen (Vern) Brook and Ruth Greco; nieces and nephews, Steve Brook, Sandy Brook, Nancy (Jim) Strehlow, Kathy (Eric) Herr, Wade (Holly) Greco, Terry (Diane) Greco and Gina Greco; other relatives and friends.
He was further preceded in death by his brother, Charles (Jean) Zwiebel; sister, Cathy Zwiebel; brother-in-law, Bob Greco; and nieces, Susan Brook and Bonnie Seeger.

Services for John are Friday, Dec. 16, at 11 a.m., at St. Charles Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends is Dec. 16, at the church from 10-10:45 a.m. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is serving the family.
