HERBERT B. UHEN

Easter Lily      Herbert B. Uhen, 91, Burlington, died Aug. 10, 2016, at Pine Brook Pointe. He was born April 16, 1925, in Burlington, to the late William and Adelheid (Bracker) Uhen. He had been a Burlington resident his entire life.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952 as a mechanic.

On Oct. 7, 1950, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, he married Marjorie A. Rothering. He worked for Burlington Wholesale Foods as a truck driver for 35 years. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with his family, neighbors and friends. After he retired he delivered for Meals on Wheels and drove many people to their doctor appointments. He loved spending time hunting and fishing with his buddies.

Survivors include his wife of almost 66 years; daughters, Julie (Dan) Johnson and Mary Krause; grandchildren, Natalie Johnson, Olivia Johnson and Caroline Krause; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was further preceded in death by his son, baby Joseph; sisters, Rose (Leo) Germann and Florence (Bernard) Vogt; brothers, William Uhen and Robert (Janet) Uhen.

Memorials may be made to St. Charles Church or St. Charles School.

The family would like to thank the staff at Pine Brook Pointe and Aurora at Home Hospice for their wonderful care.

Mass of Christian Burial is Friday, Aug. 19, at 6:30 p.m., at St. Charles Catholic Church with the Rev. James Volkert presiding. Visitation for family and friends is Aug. 19, from 4-6 p.m., at the church. Burial will be private at St. Charles Cemetery. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is serving the family.
