GARY L. KLEVEN

Easter Lily      Gary L. Kleven, 75, Burlington, died July 29, 2016. He was born in Sparta, on Nov. 15, 1940, to the late Oscar and Jane (Johnson) Kleven.

Gary graduated from La Crosse High School and served in the U.S. Navy before earning a BA in Art from UW-Milwaukee. He later completed his master’s degree at UW-Stout and went on to work as a school psychologist for 30 years. He worked with developmentally disabled adults at Southern Wisconsin Center for many years. He also worked with troubled youth at Ethan Allen School for Boys. Prior to retirement he worked as a school psychologist in Northern Illinois.

In his free time, he enjoyed reading, writing, painting, music, and vegetarian cooking. He was known for his bean burritos.

He visited four continents. He fondly remembered his time as a sailor in Japan as well as a trip to Spain and Portugal in the 1960s. Gary was married to Margaret for 32 years.

Survivors include his children, Molly Berry, Neill Kleven, Jane Bucher and Patrick Kleven; grandchildren, Georgia, Tess, Maddie, Ramona and Quinn; nieces; nephews; and friends; his sister, Karen Olson.

He was further preceded in death by his brother, Dennis.

Natural burial was private July 30, at Prairie Home Cemetery, Waukesha. Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, Crematory & Preplanning Services served the family.
