EDWARD W. SHALLOCK, MILDRED L. SHALLOCK

Easter LilyEdward William ‘Bill’ Shallock, 92, Naples, Fla., and Burlington, beloved husband of Mildred Lucile Roberts for over 69 years, passed away peacefully on Nov. 27, 2014, in Naples.

He was born in Chicago, on May 13, 1922, to the late Edward William Shallock and Glendora Rommel Shallock. He attended Lane Tech High School in Chicago and graduated from the University of Illinois in 1946, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, while serving in the U.S. Navy.

He married Mildred Lucile Roberts on April 21, 1945, at the Tabernacle Presbyterian Church, Indianapolis, Ind. He will be dearly missed by his three sons, Edward W. (Cherie) Shallock, Forest, Va., James R. (Peggy) Shallock, Bellaire, Texas, Steven G. (Cindy) Shallock, Mequon; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He worked in automotive sales and service nearly his whole career, starting Rommel-Shallock Motors in the early 50s and assuming sole ownership of Bill Shallock Ford in Burlington in 1973. He was always proud of being the ““Largest Ford Dealership in Burlington.”” During his working career Bill was active in Kiwanis and the Free Masons. Bill had a passion for golf, with five hole-in-ones during his lifetime. He enjoyed the open seas, including boating, fishing, sailing, and especially cruising during retirement.

At Bill’s request a private family viewing was held to honor him in Naples, on Dec. 3, 2014. A memorial service and burial will be scheduled at a future date in Burlington. The family wishes to thank all of the family and friends who have expressed their condolences, thoughts, and prayers. A special thanks to the staff at Juniper Village of Naples for their compassionate care of Bill.

Mildred L. ‘Millie’ Shallock, 93, Naples, Fla., and Burlington, beloved wife of Edward William ‘Bill’ Shallock for over 69 years, passed away peacefully on Oct. 28, 2015, in Naples.

She was born in Indianapolis, Ind., on Aug. 6, 1922, to the late W. Henry Roberts and Ina May (Wilcox) Roberts. She attended Shortridge High School in Indianapolis. She continued her participation in the Miss Club from HS till the day she passed. Millie graduated from the University of Illinois in 1944, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in business administration.

She married Bill Shallock on April 21, 1945, at the Tabernacle Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis. She will be dearly missed by her three sons, Edward W. (Cherie) Shallock, Forest, Va., James R. (Peggy) Shallock, Bellaire, Texas, Steven G. (Cindy) Shallock, Mequon; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Besides raising a family, Millie worked with Bill in the automotive dealership for much of her life handling all the bookkeeping duties. In addition to her responsibilities at work, she was proud of her fiduciary responsibilities as treasure of the Halls Point homeowners Association. Millie had a passion for golf during retirement, as well as cruising with Bill. And, let us not forget the parties. If there was a piano or ukulele around, a good time was had by those around her.

A private family graveside service and burial to honor Millie and Bill is scheduled for Saturday, July 23, 2016, in Burlington. The family wishes to thank all of the family and friends who have expressed their condolences, thoughts, and prayers.

MEMORIAL LUNCHEON

Please join us for some food, drinks, and share your memories with the family. A Celebration of Life luncheon will be held for Bill and Millie Shallock, longtime residents of Burlington from noon to 4:30 p.m., on Saturday, July 23, 2016, at the Waterfront Restaurant, 31100 Weiler Road, Browns Lake. A toast to honor their lives is scheduled for 2 p.m.

Bill and Millie owned and operated Bill Shallock Ford (Burlington’s Largest Ford Dealer) for over 30 years. Bill was a member of the Kiwanis Club. Millie enjoyed submitting entries to the Burlington Liars Club. Both enjoyed golf, and cruising during retirement.
