DORIS STANEK

Easter Lily      Doris Stanek, 91, Waterford, died peacefully March 17, 2016, surrounded by family, at Waterford Senior Living Memory Care.

She was born in LaFarge, on April 18, 1924, to the late Hallie and Hilma (Silbaugh) Campbell. She spent her early life in LaFarge where she graduated from high school before attending UW–Whitewater where she received her Master’s Degree in education.

On Sept. 19, 1943, she was married Marvin Wencil Stanek. He was the love of her life and they were blessed to have spent 65 years together. Following marriage they made their home in Hillsboro before moving to Franksville. He preceded her in death on Feb. 12, 2008.

She worked as a schoolteacher for 33 years. She taught fifth through eighth grade at Yorkville Elementary (when it was a two room schoolhouse). She dedicated 30 years at Union Grove Middle School, teaching seventh and eighth grade Social Studies and Civics. Her passion for teaching and the love of her students touched many lives.

She was a member of Raymond Seventh Day Adventist Church, was an avid reader, loved history, playing trivia games and listening to music. She was always busy helping others and was devoted to her family. Her favorite times were spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Marvin James ‘Jim’ Stanek, Franksville, Shirley (David) Allesee, Waterford; grandchildren, Kelly Stanek, Franksville, Shawn (Cammie) Stanek, Franksville, Sara (Jon) Klepp, Waterford. Maria (Dwayne) Allesee-Sweeney, Waterford; grandson-in-law, Jon Trobaugh; great-grandchildren, Paiton, Addison, Hana Klepp, Stella and Simon Sweeney, Annika Stanek, Taylor Vernon and Madison Trobaugh; her brother, LaVerne (Joanne) Campbell, LaFarge.

She was further preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Connie Stanek; granddaughter, Nikki Trobaugh; granddaughter-in-law, Kelly Stanek; siblings, Dr. Merton Campbell, Garnet Stout and Lucille Harrison.

In lieu of flowers, contributions suggested to the family for a donation to be made to the Social Studies Department at Union Grove Elementary School. This will be in loving memory of Doris’s 30 years of dedication to her students.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Waterford Senior Living for their loving care over the past nine years. Additionally, a heartfelt thank you to Allay Hospice for their compassion and care during her final year of life.

Per Doris’s wishes a graveside service will be held at a later date. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is serving the family.
