DAVID L. BALLARD

Easter Lily      David L. Ballard, 77, Burlington, died Sept. 30, 2016, at his home. He was born in Chicago on May 11, 1939, to the late Frank and Marie (Rusch) Ballard. He graduated from St. Ignatius High School in Chicago. Following high school he went on to the Illinois Institute of Technology where he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

On Nov. 30, 1963, in Beloit, he married Mary Ann Denison. They were blessed to call many places home before settling in Burlington in 2010. David worked for Kraft Foods as a mechanical engineer and following retirement he went to Sargento.

He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church and was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. He loved watching sports and will have the best seat in the house when the Cubs win the World Series. He enjoyed playing tennis, golf and table tennis.

Survivors include his wife; children, Michael (Beth) Ballard, Robert (Christine) Ballard, Kathleen (James) Martin, Matthew (Erica) Ballard and Margaret (John) Nelson; grandchildren, Drayse, Max, Molly and Jack Ballard, James (Stephanie), David (Eilis Smith), Jonathan, Margaret, Thomas, and Karina Martin, Madelyn and Benjamin Ballard, Mary and Jacob Nelson; his sisters, Maureen, Francine and Suzanne.

The family would like to thank the Heart Failure Clinic at St. Luke’s and Seasons Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Oct. 4, at St. Charles Catholic Church. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, Burlington, served the family.
