CHARLES PETERSON

Easter Lily      Charles ‘Pete’ Peterson, 82, Burlington, died May 29, 2016, at Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington.

He was born March 21, 1934, in Burlington, to the late Peter and Catherine (Vissers) Peterson. He attended St. Charles Grade School and graduated from St. Mary’s High School. Following high school he proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1960.

On May 3, 1958, he married Donna Rose Nolan at St. Mary’s Church-Dover. Following marriage they made their home in Burlington. Pete worked as a dispatcher for We Energies for 38 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the American Legion, VFW Post 2823 where he served as Commander in 1964-1965, was a leader for Boy Scout Troop 364 and had served in the City of Burlington Fire Department. Following retirement he worked as a grounds keeper for Geneva National and was a courier for Town Bank. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a huge Packer fan.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years; children, Peter (Jane) Peterson, Laurie (Jim) Sheahan, William (Sandy) Peterson, Andrew (Ellen) Peterson; grandchildren, Eric (Mandi) Peterson, Alex (Amanda) Peterson, Daniel (Kara Howard) Peterson, Matt (Martha) Sheahan, Joe (Kelly) Sheahan, Molly (Stacy) Sheahan-Spector, Wes Peterson, Ross (Kimberly Hunt) Peterson, Michaela (Justin Anderson) Peterson, Neal Peterson, Nick Peterson and Steve Peterson; great-grandchildren, Olivia Sheahan, Owen Sheahan, Lucia Sheahan, Leona Sheahan, Lorelei Peterson, Nolan Peterson, Kennedy Peterson, Silas Spector and Leah Sheahan; brother-in-law, Robert (Kay) Nolan; sisters-in-law, Annette Nolan and Merlyn Riggs; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was further preceded in death by his in-laws, Stanley and Margaret Nolan; brothers, Peter and Jack Peterson; brother-in-law, James Nolan.

The family would like to thank the staff at Burlington Hospital, Dr. Rein and the nurses with Aurora at Home Hospice for all their wonderful care and compassion.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, June 6, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 7 p.m. Friends and family may visit on June 6 from 4-6:45 p.m., in Good Shepherd Chapel. Burial will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is serving the family.
