ARLENE M. HOGANSON

Easter Lily      Arlene Margaret Hoganson, 92, died Sept. 27, 2016. She was born July 18. 1924, in Burlington, to the late Theodore and Edna (Potratz) Korn. Arlene was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church. She graduated from St. John’s Lutheran School and Burlington High School.

She married Forrest Hoganson on June 17, 1951. She was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Burlington. She was a resident of Oak Ridge Place, Stillwater, Minn., since 2007.

She was a member of USAF Academy Parents Association; American Field Service Student Exchange Program: Burlington Lyceum Club, Burlington Historical Society, Burlington Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Meals on Wheels. She was a member of St. John’s Mission Society, OWLS, Girl Pioneer Council, Historical Committee, and a charter member of the Senior Handbell Choir.

She was a private secretary at Murphy Products Co. in Burlington for 11 years and was the church secretary at St. John’s for 25 years.

Music was always a part of Arlene’s life. Growing up in a musical family, she played piano since she was nine years old. She performed in the duo-piano team of Wagner and Korn, doing concert work throughout southeastern Wisconsin. She was an accompanist for the Fox River Chorus, St. John’s Choir and many soloists. Her children and their families were God’s blessing. She and her husband instilled in their children the love of the Savior, importance of family and an appreciation of music.

Survivors include her children, Eric (Tawnie) Hoganson, Beavercreek. Ohio, Jon (Lori) Hoganson, Marine on St. Croix, Minn., and Anne (Andrew) Alff, Pflugerville. Texas; grandchildren, Bethany (Nathan) Huffman, Beavercreek, Erika Hoganson, Fairborn, Ohio, Jamie (Ward) Lipscomb, Cypress, Texas, Justin (Lorraine) Alff, Castle Rock, Colo., Andrew (Melissa) Hoganson, Hanover, Minn., Steven (Katie) Hoganson, St. Paul, Minn., Samuel Hoganson, Marine on St. Croix, Minn.; great-grandchildren, Christian, Virginia and Jameson Huffman, Ohio, and Colton and Lily Lipscomb, Texas; sister, Gretchen (Marvin) Koch, Sugar Grove, Ill.; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. She was further preceded in death by her brother, Robert (Marjorie) Korn; and brother-in-law, Lester (Jane) Hoganson.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 8, at 11 a.m., at Salem Lutheran Church, 14940 62nd St. North, Stillwater, Minn.
