ANNAMARIE ‘BECKA’ BINNING

Easter Lily      Annamarie ‘Becka’ Binning, 95, died June 11, 2016, at Pine Crest Nursing Home in Merrill, while under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

She was born on May 8, 1921, to the late Gabriel and Ragna (Krogstad) Fries in Wind Lake. She attended and graduated from Waterford Union High School. She continued her education by earning a degree in cosmetology in Milwaukee.

She met and fell in love with Glenn A. Binning, and the two were married on Jan. 15, 1944 in Racine. He preceded her in death on March 31, 1995.

Annamarie lived in the Waterford area her entire life. She was a beautician for almost 20 years, even owning her own beauty salon in Waterford at one point. After she sold the beauty shop, she was happy to be at home as a homemaker for her family. She was a member of Norway Lutheran Church in Wind Lake. She was a very classy lady with a great sense of humor. She enjoyed spending time and socializing with her friends, even taking trips to Hawaii, Florida and Las Vegas together. She was friendly to everyone, even to those she did not know. She loved swimming, not only in her younger years, but all the way up until moving into Pine Crest Nursing Home. She enjoyed canning while she was at home, especially vegetables. Annamarie was very passionate about crocheting, but would also enjoy doing some needlepoint.

Survivors include her daughter, Jane M. Binning, Merrill; granddaughters, Heather (Joe) Meehean, Lynchburg, Va., and Holly Johnson (Josh Strand), Merrill; great-grandchildren, Austin Stevenson and Lilly Strand, of Merrill, and Cora Meehean, Lynchburg.

She was further preceded in death by brothers, Gilbert, Alf and Gabriel Fries Jr.

A private family time for Annamarie will be held at Waid Funeral Home in Merrill. Burial will take place in Norway Hill Cemetery, Wind Lake, at a later date.
