ANNA M. LEVERENZ

Easter Lily      Anna M. Leverenz, 89, Tomahawk, died April 1, 2016, at Ministry Sacred Heart Hospital in Tomahawk. She was born May 19, 1926, in Burlington, to the late Joseph and Mary (Linneman) Brehm.

She married Ervin ‘Erv’ Leverenz on May 21, 1949. He passed away in 2004.

She attended St. Mary’s Schools in Burlington, graduating in 1944. She lived in southern Wisconsin before moving to Merrill in 1966 and later Tomahawk in 1977. Erv and Ann owned the Tomahawk House for many years and were members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Ann had a passion for volunteer work and community service which included helping at poll locations and assisting with blood banks. She spent many hours knitting mittens, hats and prayer shawls, which were given away to help others. She held many volunteer positions which included ushering at church and working at St. Mary’s Thrift Cellar. She was treasurer for the Lincoln County Council on Aging and was active with the Red Hat Society. Ann was truly talented and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, basket weaving and sewing. In her earlier years, she enjoyed golfing with her husband.

Survivors include her sons, Tom (Nola) Leverenz, Flower Mound, Texas, Rick (Lori) Leverenz, La Crosse, and Gary (Cathy) Leverenz, Madison; daughter, Mary (Joe Verner) Hammerly, Seattle, Wash.; and sister-in-law, Margaret Haizlip, California; 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was further preceded in death by her son, David; daughter, Jane; and brother, Bernard.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 3, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tomahawk. The Rev. Louis Maramreddy officiated. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials appreciated to Catholic Central High School in Burlington. Generations Funeral Home & Crematory served the family.
