ALVIN R. MESCHKE JR.

Easter Lily      Alvin R. Meschke Jr., 75, Burlington, died peacefully May 8, 2016, at Waterford Senior Living. He was born in Chicago on Dec. 9, 1940, to the late Alvin R. and Esther (Trocke) Meschke Sr. He spent his early life in Chicago where he attended school. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1960.

On Oct. 14, 1961, he married Nancy Ann Golojuch. Following marriage they made their home in Palatine, Ill., before moving to Burlington in 1974. Nancy preceded him in death on May 16, 2004.

He worked as a mechanic for We Energies. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Burlington, enjoyed woodcarving, painting, hunting, cheering on the Chicago Bears and gardening. His greatest joy came from spending time with his granddaughters.

Survivors include his daughters, Julie (Tony) Martin and Cindy (Ron) Elverman, both Burlington; granddaughters, Brittany and Brianna; sisters, Marie (Leo) Bernardy, and Norine (Mark) Dupre, both Mankato, Minn.

The family would like to thank the staff at Waterford Senior Living Memory Care and Allay Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion.

Mass of Christian Burial for Alvin will be celebrated Wednesday, May 11, at 7 p.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. James Volkert officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held at St. Mary Church in the Good Shepherd Chapel on May 11, from 4-6:30 p.m. Burial will be private at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is serving the family.
