WILLIAM D. GIRARD

Easter Lily      William D. Girard, 67, Union Grove, died June 2, 2015, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born Aug. 5, 1947, to the late Wilbert and Angelica (Vuchetich) Girard in Milwaukee. His early life was spent in Algoma. He enjoyed growing up in the small town where he played football and spent time fishing on the Ananpee River.

On Aug. 1, 1970, he married Margaret Mary Kranz in Watertown, S.D. He worked for Jockey International and was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church.

He spent many years watching, coaching and umpiring his children’s sports games, with much enthusiasm and love. His beautiful voice resounded in the church choir for many years. He loved singing and socializing with his many friends in the church and community. A special bond was made at the local gas station, solving the world’s problems, with his buddies. He relished his time with these friends. Above all, his love of God came through in his daily life, as well as, his abundance of love for his wife, children and grandchildren. They brought him the greatest joy in his life. Bill touched many lives with his attentive conversation, wit and humor. He will be missed by many.

Survivors include his loving wife, Maggie; children, Kari (Darin) Rahn, David (Becky) Girard and Amy (Brian) Shields; grandchildren, Matthew, Nathan, Caleb, Sophie, Will, Hazel and Lainey; siblings, Darlene (Lee) Fochs, Donna (George) Finch, Mary Girard; other relatives and friends.

He was further preceded in death by his in-laws, Nicholas (Florence) Kranz; nephews, Marty, Anthony and Michael.

In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorials be made to St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church.

Bill’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Compassionate Caregivers; Freda, Julie, Judy and Sherry for all their support and care.
