THOMAS L. PEACOCK

Easter Lily      Thomas L. Peacock, 85, Burlington, died Jan. 12, 2015, at Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington.

He was born in Elkhorn on July 20, 1929, to the late Francis and Violet (Voss) Peacock. He spent his early life in Lake Geneva, Woodstock, Ill., and Hebron, Ill., where he graduated from high school. He then attended Tri-State School for Engineering where he earned a bachelor’s degree.

He served in the U.S. Navy as a navigator on the FDR from 1950 to 1954. He was very proud to have served on the FDR, which was the largest class of carriers at that time in history.

In 1951 he married Marlene Tigard. Following marriage they made their home in Angolo, Minneapolis, Galesburg, Ill., Independence and Janesville before moving to Burlington in 1979.

He worked as a civil engineer for different companies before opening his own business in 1983 as a contractor for Fast Track Buildings.

He was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church. He joined the Kiwanis in the early 1980s and was a member of the Professional Engineering Society. He enjoyed doing genealogy research, playing sports, such as baseball and basketball in his younger years, liked going fishing, listening to music and reading.

Survivors include his wife 63 years; children, Jackie Hemenway, Bruce Todd Peacock, Dale Matthew Peacock; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Peacock; grandchildren, Jennifer (BJ) Kienbaum, Stephanie (Jason) Vetter, Patrick (Maria) Hemenway, Sarah (Lee Podewels) Hemenway, Alexandra Peacock, Tess Peacock, Elanor Peacock; great-grandchildren, Austin, Adelynn and Anna Kienbaum, Preston Vetter, Ethan Hemenway, Brayden and Hunter Podewels.

Memorials to Plymouth Congregational Church would be appreciated.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Aurora Memorial Hospital and Burlington Rehab as well as all their special friends for their love and support during this time.

Services are Friday, Jan. 16, at 3 p.m., at Plymouth Congregational Church with the Rev. Bob Wang officiating. Family and friends may visit with the family Friday at church from 1-3 p.m. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is serving the family.
