STEVEN K. THUEMMLER

Easter Lily      Steven K. ‘Mr. Howie’ Thuemmler, 66, Burlington, died peacefully on Feb. 12, 2015, at his home.

He was born in Burlington on May 5, 1948, to the late Theodore and Barbara (Daniels) Thuemmler. He spent his early life in Brighton graduating from Central High School in Paddock Lake where he was active with football, track and baseball. He also went to UW–Madison and UW–Parkside in Kenosha.

On Oct. 9, 1971, he married Karen Jeanne Petersen at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Burlington. They made their home in Burlington where they raised their family.

He worked for J.W. Peters for many years as a laborer and foreman. He was a lifetime member of Bucktrail Archers Club, where he enjoyed spending time with all his hunting buddies. He was member of the White Fox Den coffee club and was the owner of Mr. Howie’s Guide Service in Winter, Wis., where he was also a sharp shooter for the W.W. Meat Service. He was an avid outdoorsman – loved to hunt and fish and pick morel mushrooms. His wardrobe consisted of about 99 percent camouflage. He was greatly loved by his family and many friends and was known as being the hardest working and toughest man there ever was.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years; sons, Jeff (Jen) Thuemmler, Steve Thuemmler and Jeremy (Jamie) Thuemmler; grandchildren, Reilly, Brody, Gwen and Colton Thuemmler; his siblings, Jim (Dolly) Thuemmler, Jan (Andy) Bellis, Kay (Jake) Jacobson, and Lori (Steven) Veh.

The family is asking that memorials go to Bucktrail Archers in Steven’s memory.

A special thank you goes out to Heartland Hospice (Cindy) and UW–Madison Hospital floor B6 nurses and all the family and friends who offered so much support during this time.

A Celebration of Life is Saturday, March 7, starting at noon at Bucktrail Archers Club, 32622 Yahnke Road, Burlington. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, is serving the family.
