RAYMOND T. RICHTER

Easter Lily      Raymond T. Richter, 93, Brighton Township, died Dec. 8, 2015, at Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington.

He was born in rural Burlington on Feb. 3, 1922, to the late Frank and Verna (Epping) Richter. He spent his entire life in the Kenosha County area where he attended St. Alphonsus Grade School and graduated from Burlington High School.

On June 9, 1945, at St. Charles Church in Burlington he married the love of his life, Marion Weis. They have been lifelong residents of the Burlington area where they raised their family. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Church and the Knights of Columbus.

He was a farmer for 10 years, but was a farmer at heart his entire life. In 1950 he was incapacitated with polio and confined to a wheelchair. Being the determined man he was, he never let his handicap interfere with performing a task or meeting a challenge. Ray was a bookkeeper/salesman for Burlington Farm Implement selling John Deere equipment and GMC trucks; a job he remained at for 39 years. He was also secretary/treasurer of the Pure Milk Association for 17 years.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years; children, David (Marge) Richter, Peter (Dolly) Richter, Donna (John Carpenter) Kraehnke; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; his sister, Shirley (Don) Meyer; brothers-in-law, Bill Weis and Bob (Sue) Weis.

He was further preceded in death by his sisters, Lucille (Herb) Lois and Lorena (John) Wiemer; brothers-in-law, Francis (Lunetta), Lloyd (Betty) and Art (Grace) Weis and sister-in-law, Betty Weis.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Dec. 11, at 11 a.m., at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 6300 344th Ave., New Munster, with the Rev. Terry Langley officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 S. Browns Lake Drive, Burlington, on Thursday, Dec. 10, from 4-7 p.m. Burial will be private.
