HAZEL B. SHEARD

Easter Lily      Hazel B. Sheard, 92, Omaha, Neb., formally Sioux City, Iowa, died peacefully in the arms of her family on Sept. 22, 2015 in Omaha.

She was born Jan. 26, 1923, in East Troy, to the late William and Caroline (Mueller) Clason.

She married Herbert Sheard on July 4, 1942, in Burlington. He preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 1999, in Sioux City.

She was an extremely caring and giving person, always putting other’s needs before her own. She was recognized with a special volunteer award from the Goodwill Industries for her many hours of service. She loved flowers, camping, playing cards, and spending time with her family. If ever lost in Walmart, you could always find her in the candy aisle (Hersey’s Kisses were her favorite) or in the greeting cards aisle trying to find just the right card. She also loved playing Angry Birds and Candy Crush on her tablet.

Survivors include her daughters, Susan Beekman, Omaha, Judith (Donald) Taschner, Wisconsin Rapids; grandchildren, Desiree (Mike) Troia and their children Koby and Cameron, and Chris (Jeanette) Beekman and their children Jason, Hannah, and Emilee; and numerous nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Bill (Inger) Whitmore.

She was further preceded in death by her siblings, Elmer, Ralph, Ruth and Ferne; and son-in-law, Paul Beekman.

Services were Sept. 26, at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with the Rev. Tim Bonney officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, Sioux City, served the family.

Memorials may be given to the Children’s Miracle Network in Hazel’s memory.
