HARVEY N. TENGLER

Easter Lily      Harvey Nick Tengler, 86, Crooked Lake, Wis., died peacefully outdoors with his daughter by his side at Angels Grace Hospice on Oct. 9, 2015.

He was born in New England, N.D., to the late John and Theresa (Engelman) Tengler and while in elementary school, his family moved to Wisconsin.

He grew up in Wauwatosa and attended high school there. After high school, Harvey and a group of friends drove to Alaska and worked there all summer, sleeping in the wild outdoors. Upon his return he was drafted into the Army where he served for two years in Korea. During his time there he learned drafting. After returning to Wisconsin he attended Marquette University to study Mechanical Engineering.

On June 5, 1954, he married the love of his life, Nancy Kay Ihling, at Sacred Hearts Church in Franklin. He was a Mechanical Engineer applying this knowledge to every aspect of his house, to attic doors, boat winches, etc. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and nature. He also enjoyed motorcycle driving with his wife, Nancy. After retirement he taught himself how to use a computer and most recently bought himself a Mac Book and installed wireless internet.

He proudly cared for his wife and learned to cook and bake. His love of learning was witnessed by his reading six magazines a week and countless Internet searches regarding various science, technology and history sites. Harvey was a member of the St. Mary’s of the Lake Crooked Lake Chapel where he served as lector and Eucharistic Minister. He loved being with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his children and their spouses, Steve (Kim) Tengler, Renee Tengler, Tim Tengler, Lisa (Mike) Krupinski; 10 grandchildren, Tanya, Adrian, Aaron, Leah, Lindsay, Nick, Paul, Jessica, Natalie, and Christina; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Elsie Sabel; sister in law, Rosy Tengler.

He was further preceded in death by his loving wife; brother, Frank; and sisters, Sue and Irene.

Memorial Mass is Saturday Nov. 7, at 11 a.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 305 S. First St., Waterford. Visitation with family is 10-11 a.m., Saturday in church. Mealy Funeral Home, Waterford, is serving the family.
